The HealerCraft Hall located at Kielac hold is the center of learning for the art of Healing within the boundaries of East Rock Territory

Healers provide necessary sercices to holds and halls throughout Pern. This ranges from simple health checks to prescribing and preparing medications and salves. Generally at least one healer is present when numbweed is boiled although nearly every hold- or weyrwoman knows how to do it faultlessly.

Healers take care of the inured and ill, do minor non-invasive surgeries, and more.

The search to regain ages lost healing knowledge, such as correcting poor eyesight and blood typing continues here.

To become a healer apprentice, one must show interest and dedication - no previous experience necessary. Apprentices usually range from 15 - 18 turns.

To rise to senior apprentice, one must show that they have acquired and retained the knowledge and basic techniques of the craft. This includes emergency healing, assisting a birth, and the use of needlethorn. Senior apprentices usually range from 16-20 turns. These are also required of Sea Rescuers

To walk the tables to Journeyman, one must be able to correctly diagnose and treat any infirmity and complete minor surgeries in addition to the Sr. Apprentice level requirements. A Journeyman healer should have all the necessary skills to take care of a hold's medical needs without another healer's assistance. Journeymen healers usually are at least 21 turns of age.

Attaining Mastery in HealerCraft takes many turns. Generally, Mastery can be reached at 30 turns by a very dedicated crafter. It is not easy to attain Mastery. A Master (or lower-ranked crafter with a goal of reaching Mastery) will not have a secondary craft.
