After the Falkland Island War, the Royal Navy found that many of their surface warships couldn't last in a missile battle. After the rejection of the Type 43 and 44 Class Destroyer, the Type 45 was ordered to be the first of a run of 48 vessels. By the outbreak of the Twilight War (or due to financial costs in Merc or DC), three ships were hurriedly built. The order was reduced to 12 total, which only 3 of those remaining 9 are even remotely assembled.

NOTE: The Daring's was the first Royal Navy ship to use the electromagnetic engine 9 hours at 18 knots before recharging.
