Karbin has a long, whiskered snout, and a friendly face framed by a pair of silver horns and two tall ears. His biped body is slender and tall, squared off by his large, butterfly-like wings of black, yellow and red. Most of his body is a deep black color, marked by a swirling pattern of white spots; his belly is a glowing white-yellow.

Karbin is a fun loving creature, his fun being the chaotic kind. He likes flaunting his good looks, and doesn't hesitate to use his exotic appearance to get strangers to believe falsities about him. Revealing the truth at the most wonderfully inopportune moments gives him great entertainment. Most of his games end within a few weeks, though some of his lies, especially the simple lie that he is male (in fact Karbin can change his gender when he chooses and is neither truly male nor female), can go on for years. The long standing stories are the ones that Karbin enjoys the most, though he is careful with them- he doesn't want to needlessly hurt friends when they are involved.

No one really seems to know where Karbin came from- he simply seems to have appeared in the Nexus one day. He spent some time wandering around the Nexus after he arrived, sowing seeds of chaos and mischief. In short, Karbin occupied himself with what entertains all Meritan most… trickery and manipulation. He probably would have stayed at this longer, but by chance he met Ziry Rona'de and fell in love with her at first sight. He has remained with her since and the two have bonded in their own way… Karbin followed Ziry to her homeworld and has made it his own. He is not particularly helpful when it comes to the political spheres that Ziry travels in, but he keeps her going to say the least. And he has proven that he can be a strong force for good when he wants to be. Karbin's plans for the future are as much a mystery as his past.
