Barrett M82A1 .50 BMG

This specially built .50 caliber sniper rifle, called the 'Light Fifty', first used by Marine Force Recon and SEALs, is considered by many the pinnacle of sniping technology.  Several nations besides the US use the Barrett, namely Israel and Canada.  Heavy and cumbersome, this weapon is not normally used for LRRP missions, or deep insertions.  The weight ensures that the sniper is generally lightly armed with secondary weapons, as well as needing a spotter for close range combat.  An 8-24 Scope is standard, and the weapon is designed to be used with a bipod for best range.   Standard 12.7mm BMG ammo may be used instead of the match ammunition, but its performance is deteriorated, as noted by the italic number in brackets under Range.

Barrett M95 .50 BMG

Similar to the the M82, the M95 is a .50 caliber sniper rifle.  To reduce the mass of the original, the M95 is of bull-pup configuration, reducing its overall range as well.  Still heavy, this rifle is mission specific and not normally carried by the average sniper.  Standard 12.7mm BMG ammo may be used instead of the match ammunition, but its performance is deteriorated, as noted by the italic number in brackets under Range.
